Mini Greenhouses
Mini greenhouses are small, usually temporary greenhouses
that can be set up and taken down easily. They are excellent for gardeners
who have limited space and funds and can rival an expensive rigid structure.
They are typically made from light and easy to obtain materials such
as plastic sheeting and PVC pipe.
Mini greenhouses have a number of advantages and disadvantages to a
traditional greenhouse. They are much more affordable and small enough
to be put into almost any yard, porch or alcove and they are easy to
disassemble in the summer if necessary. They do not hold up to severe
weather very well and they also weather much quicker than a regular
one. Their life-span is only about five years.
Mini greenhouses can be easily designed and made by the gardener themselves
or they can be purchased as ready to assemble kits and even pop-up greenhouses.
They range in size from cold frames that hold a couple of plants to
walk in freestanding structures that can house quite a few plants but
are not big enough to hang out in on a winter afternoon.
